AND THE ABILITY TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE
Text: 24Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone would come after
me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25For
whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life
for me will find it. 26What good will it do for a man if he gains the
whole world, yet forfeits his own soul? Or what can a man give in
exchange for his soul?” Matt 16:24-26 NIV

Do you consider this a radical teaching? Scale: 1 – 10

How does this teaching relate to the story of the Rich Young Ruler?

How do you think Jesus’ disciples responded to this teaching? What things do
you think were running through their minds?

At what circumstances in their ministries do you think this teaching came to
mind? How do you think it dictated or changed their behavior?

Have you come to that place in life where you realize that so many of things
that you thought you wanted so badly, once you have the ability to acquire
them, just don’t seem to matter any more?

What is my initial reaction to this teaching of Jesus?

Do you have any gifts that has become “possessions”?

What is the difference between a producing or non-producing asset?

What is the principle of the “higher use” and how does it apply in my case?

How will this teaching change the patterns in my life?

What would I like to teach my children/grandchildren regarding this
principle? How will I accomplish this?
